Becoming Catholic (RCIA)
Becoming Catholic - Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA)
"...We long for the day when you will join us at the table of the Lord
to share in the fullness of His life-giving Sacraments..."-taken from the Rite of Acceptance
Becoming Catholic is a process of formation based on three principles: Prayer, Education and Fellowship. We begin each each session in the Holy presence of God in His Word, as we break open the Scriptures, as Jesus did in St. Luke's Gospel "Then beginning with Moses and all the prophets, he interpreted to them what referred to him in all the scriptures." (Luke 24:27) Each week a topic is discussed, this is done by a presentation by one of the R.C.I.A Team, and then a discussion can ensue.
Through the various Rites in the program, the parish as a whole supports, prays, and celebrates this journey of faith with these candidates.
Finally, as we meet week after week a bond of Christian friendship grows, and we are reminded that we are ALL on the journey.
As we are reminded: On the road to Emmaus "With that their eyes were opened and they recognized him, but he vanished from their sight. Then they said to each other, "Were not our hearts burning (within us) while he spoke to us on the way and opened the scriptures to us?" (Luke 24:31,32)
